As I´ve promised, here I bring the tuto of my inchies for the 2014 ECC, at Madrid.
Como prometí, aquí pongo el tutorial de mis 3x3 para el Euroclay Carnival de 2014, en Madrid.
It is a 3x3cm piece (a little bigger than an inchie, 2,5x2,5cm) there is a swap of inchies between the participants of ECC, teachers included. I´ve carried almost 100 equals and I´ve gotten 81 different.
Se trata de una pieza de 3x3cm (un poco más grande que una inchie que sería una 2,5x2,5cm) que intercambiamos entre las participantes del ECC. Yo llevé casi 100 iguales y me traje 81 diferentes.
As you can see, it is a kind of collage with several tecnics. Texturizated, retro cane, mokume gane, modeling and paint or back filling depend on the piece.
Como se ve es una especie de collage con técnica mixta. Hay texturas, murrina retro, mokume gane, modelaje y pintura o relleno según las piezas.
First of all, you have to prepare the elements: bulleye cane for the 0 and a sandwich sheet to cut in stripes and twist them to get a two colored very thin string for the 4.
Lo primero es preparar los elementos: el 0 se hace con una murrina bulleye de degradado con el oscuro en el interior, y una lámina sandwich de colores contrastados, cortaremos en tiras finas que retorcemos para conseguir churritos muy finos de dos colores para el 4.
Next, we have to maka a retro cane with the extruder, using the decided palette. And reshape it as stilted semicircular arch like the hair of our Menina.
Lo siguiente es hacer murrinas retro con la churrera en colores de la gama que hayamos decidido usar. Daremos forma de
arco peraltado porque será el pelo de nuestra Menina.
We need flesh colored balls for the face and black strings for the 1. And a two colors mokume gane.
Además necesitaremos unas bolitas color carne para la cara y churros negros para el 1. Y un mokume gane de dos colores.
Once we have all the elements set them aside while we make the base. Use a texture sheet to impress the clay. Flip it up and put a contrasted color band, I´ve used metal foil, pearl clay and more to give accent to this part.
Una vez que tenemos todos los elementos, los reservamos y preparamos la base. Usaremos una textura para dar relieve a la trasera. Le damos la vuelta y añadimos una banda en un color que contraste, he usado pan de plata, perlados y más para dar un poco de vidilla a esta parte.
Take care that there are lines which mark where the band should be, to follow our sketching.
Hay que tener cuidado al usar el cortador, he marcado con rotulador líneas que me indican por dónde va la banda, siguiendo el boceto que hicimos.
Use the cutter carefully and reshape the edges to save a time of sanding.
Cortamos y pulimos los bordes, lo que nos evitará un ratito de lijar.
We will make serveral inchies and put them on the tile to set all element by element. We will start by the 2, our Menina shape. We use a wire 2 modeled pushing it on the left part of the clay and remarking with a stabilo ball.
Hacemos unas cuantas y las colocamos en la baldosa para montarlas elemento por elemento. Empezaremos marcando nuestro 2 que sera la forma de Menina. Habremos modelado en alambre un 2 a nuestro gusto y lo presionamos ligeramente sobre la mitad izquierda de nuestra inchie, luego repasaremos con un buril.
Now we have the 2 marked. The first elemento to be putted will be the hair retro cane. After it, we will put the black string made with the extruder in order to have the same section all it long.
Una vez marcado el 2, rellenamos el pelo con la murrina retro y después añadimos el contorno, que será un churrito negro hecho con la extrusora para que tenga exactamente el mismo grosor en toda su longitud.
Add the bulleye-0, the blackstring-1, and the twocoloredstring-4, these modeling and cutted with the X-acto to fit into its place.
Añadimos el bulleye-0, churronegro-1 y churrodedoscolores-4, éstos últimos modelados y cortados con el estilete para que quepan en su hueco.
The face will be a little flesh coloured ball and the body will be a mokume gane triangle.
Ahora añadimos la cara y el cuerpo de la Menina, una bolita de color carne y un triángulo de mokume gane.
At the right side will be a texture saing ECC made with the same wire that the 2.
A la derecha pondremos la palabra ECC marcada con el mismo alambre que el 2.

En este momento añadimos nuestra firma en la trasera. En mi caso puse
esta murrina.
Bake the inchies as the brand you are using requires and let them cool. It could be finished at this point, but I prefered a point plus. So, I put acrilic paint ones, paint with a golden marker others and sanded the excess with satisfactory results. Another part of my inchies has backfilling tecnique with a contrasted colour and sanded the excess again. All of them covered with Kato varnish but a very very thin coat.
Hornea según la marca que estés usando y deja enfriar. Podría haber terminado aquí, pero preferí ir un poquito más allá. Así que puse acrílicos en algunas y rotulador dorado en otras, lijando lo que sobresalía para que sólo quedara color en las letras, con un resultado muy satisfactorio. Otra parte de las inchies están rellenas con arcilla de otro color y lijado de nuevo. Todas están protegidas con barniz Kato, pero una capa muy muy fina.
